Flight Technologies, Inc. offers both Intel and Alpha based systems. Our
KittyHawk is based on the Pentium processor and can be configured to meet
most budget/performance requirements. Our BarnStormer utilizes a 275 MHz
Alpha processor and is the fastest proven Windows NT workstation available
today.
We are Windows NT experts, and offer all of our systems with the right mix
of interfaces in order to get optimum performance for the dollar. Since we
focus on the Lightwave marketplace and work closely with NewTek, our
customers will be doing the same thing you are wanting the system for, and
we should be able to offer proven advice.

This is unclear. Benchmarks are not real until the software is released. We
have seen performance with our KittyHawk that meets the above number.
>2) Would you reccomend a Pentium based system or not?

If you do not want the incredible perfomance our BarnStormer offers, the
KittyHawk, which uses the Pentium, is recommended. 486's don't make
price/performance sense anymore, and Lightwave will use every bit of the
Pentium performance.

That's why it is important to work with a system vendor who not only
understands the hardware, but also the operating system and how to
productively apply the system to your business needs.
>3) Is the only difference between windows and windows NT, the software
>that you install, or do you need other things to get it going?
Windows and Windows NT are completely different operating environments. With
the KittyHawk it is possible to install both and "dual boot" between the
operating systems.
>4) If Windows NT gets rid of the memory barrier and can also multi-task
>so well, why are people waiting for Windows 95 instead of just upgrading
>to windows NT ? Is software compatibility the issue?
Windows95 is designed to be an upgrade to the aging DOS operating system. It
will have some cool features that are not yet implemented in Windows NT,
although NT will catch up quickly. Windows NT was designed from scratch to
provide a truly modern, 32-bit, mission-critical operating environment. Only
Windows NT will support multi-processing and RISC systems.
The adoption rate for Windows NT is growing slowly as more 32-bit
applications become available. It takes time for application vendors to port
their 16-bit DOS/Windows applications to Windows NT. Windows95 is
accelerating this development since the 16-bit Windows will disappear, and
all new systems will take advantage of 32-bit applications. It is important
to remember that all Windows95 applications are Windows NT applications as well.
>I'll have about $5,000 or so to spend on a PC system which needs to
>include a PAR and LW 4.0, so any help would be appreciated.
Flight Technologies will be offering systems that are completely integrated
with the PAR technology and Lightwave as these become available. We custom
build our systems to meet your price/performance needs and we are not tied
to any proprietary technology so your system can grow as technology advances.
